Aside from the Bowling Alley in town, there are a variety of outdoor activities and facilities to keep you busy and entertained.

The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park, on the North end of Suwannee County has music concerts of all types throughout the year, as well as trail riding, nature trails, a canoe outpost and miniature golf.  Many other events that visitors as well as local residents enjoy include the annual balloon festival, world's largest garage sale.


05.jpg (5177 bytes)The Stephen Foster State Folk Culture Park in White Springs plays a medley of favorites by this American composer daily on the world's largest tubular bell carillon. Featuring a museum, craft displays, camping, canoeing, picnicking and tours of the 247 acres of scenic grounds, the annual Florida Folk Festival and other special events throughout the year.

This area is famous for its numerous Springs.  And many of them are located in State Parks around the area, such as Ichetucknee Springs State Park, the Suwannee River State Park and Peacock Springs State Recreation Area.  Other springs include Falmoth Springs, Suwannee Springs, Royal Springs, Little River Springs, Charles Springs and Telford Springs.

Many have facilities including tubing, snorkeling, canoeing and the cave-diving capitol of the work is right here in Branford at Itchetucknee.  There are several public lakes, some with boat ramps or docks for fishing or boating.

07.jpg (7803 bytes)Suwannee County has miles of bicycle routes for scenic exploring on and off the road.  Organized events are held each year including the annual Bicycle Festival each Spring in Live Oak.

08.jpg (13711 bytes)And you should see the show the wildflowers put on in spring!!  Between March and June the azaleas, wisteria and camellias take turns with pink and purple phlox and other wildflowers to put on a show throughout the area.  They give way in the summer to magnolias and gardenias followed by blankets of bright yellow black-eyed susans (rudebeckia) and the fragrant mimosa trees.

Suwannee County also offers tours of local farms where visitors can observe the planting/harvesting of crops such as cotton, peanuts and vegetables as well as experiencing the daily routine of a working dairy farm
