Known for its bass fishing and azalea gardens, Putnam County in northeast Florida sidles along the St. Johns River. It is only 22 miles inland form the Atlantic Ocean and 52 miles south of Jacksonville. Part of the Ocala National Forest occupies Putnam, but the county is most sloganized as the "Bass Fishing Capital of the World." It is also famous for Ravine State Gardens, 182 acres of sub-tropical foliage highlighted by more than 100,000 azalea plants. You will love it here!
